Digested But Untested

Glasses on Bible 2

Every Wednesday we’ll post something to do with doctrine and recovery. Hope it helps. — Digested But Untested  “Believers think of themselves as individuals first, Americans second, and Christians third. Until that prioritization is rearranged, the Church will continue to lose influence, and biblical principles will represent simply one more option among the numerous worldviews that Americans may choose from." - George Barna “Prove all things; hold fast what is good.” - I Thessalonians 5: 21 Ask a roomful of Continue Reading

Hear Ye

conflict

Every Tuesday we’ll be posting an article about restoring and strengthening marriages that have been damaged by sexual sin. Hope it’s helpful. — Hear Ye My wife says I never listen to her. At least I think that's what she said. ~Author Unknown Bill Cosby called it The Weapon, a technique husbands instinctively catch onto early in marriage, and use as needed. The wife says something he’d rather ignore, like “Did you take the trash out?” or “We need to talk about taxes.” His mind is elsewhere, or he’s watching Continue Reading

Like Me. Please, Like Me

Every Thursday I’ll post an article having to do with either relational or emotional matters. Hope it helps. — Like Me. Please, Like Me  The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe. - Proverbs 29:25 I wonder how many things you would have done, said, or at least tried, if you hadn’t been so worried about what other people would think. The more I review my life, the madder I get at myself for letting someone else’s opinion carry so much weight. Over the years, there are too Continue Reading

Every Wednesday we’ll post something having to do with doctrine and purity. Hope it helps. — Treasured “How precious also are Your thoughts to me, oh God” - Psalm 139:17 Before making this declaration of God’s precious thoughts towards him, David first described how God knew him inside out, noting “You know my downsitting and my uprising, You know my thoughts afar off, You are acquainted with all my ways.” (Psalm 139: 2-3) In short, You know me as fully as You love me; You love me as completely as You know Continue Reading

The Error That We Breathe

Every Wednesday we’ll post a message having to do with doctrine and purity. Hope it helps. — The Error That We Breathe  “Inability to distinguish doctrine is spreading far and wide, and so long as the preacher is clever and earnest, hundreds seem to think it must be all right, and call you dreadfully ‘narrow and uncharitable’ if you hint that he is unsound!” - J.C. Ryle Bishop John C. Ryle’s warning, quoted above, was written before his death in 1900, so it’s more than a century old. And it couldn’t be more Continue Reading

Our God’s Most High

Every Monday we’ll post something about maintaining your sexual integrity. Hope it helps. — Our Gods Most High A depressing, recurring phrase shows up throughout the Old Testament books of the Kings and Chronicles: “King so-and-so ruled, and he did not tear down the high places.” The phrase “high places”, in fact, appears some 100 times in the Old Testament, and that alone makes the subject worth our attention. Evidently the high places of ancient times were raised locations, elevated areas where stones or monuments were Continue Reading

The Gay Marriage Debate: Winning, Losing or Dropping Out? (Part Seven or an Eight Part Series. Full list of links to all posts in the series at the end of this article.) From Apologies to Apologists It seems we’re forever swinging to or from extremes. That’s true of much of life, church life in particular. At times we see the Christian population with its nose buried in End Times writings; other times you’d think, by the lack of attention paid to it, that the Second Coming was a discarded myth. Sometimes we’ve sought political Continue Reading

The Gay Marriage Debate: Winning, Losing or Dropping Out? (Part 5)

I’m more grateful than I can say for the response to yesterday’s blog post regarding the protestor I briefly saw at Chik-Fil-A. Over 6,300 shares have gone out as of this writing, which is surely a first for this blog! I know the subject is volatile, relevant, and in some ways very complex, so I hope all of us keep a prayerful attitude when discussing it. Thanks again for taking the time to read it, and for your participation at this site. --- The Gay Marriage Debate: Winning, Losing or Dropping Out? (Part 5) Since public opinion Continue Reading

To My Gay Angry Friend

Last night my son and I visited our local Chic-Fil-A to show support for the company and its owner. (Click here if you’re unfamiliar with the controversy) After an hour’s wait alongside scores of other like-minded customers, we passed a lone gay protestor standing in front of the restaurant, quietly holding a sign with a quote from Leviticus. He was a solitary voice, a man I disagreed with but who made an impression on me nonetheless. I couldn’t tell him so at the time. I’d like to tell him now. --- Continue Reading
