A Race Well Planned

runner

Every Wednesday we’ll post something to do with doctrine and recovery. Hope it helps. — A Race Well Planned  (Excerpted from the upcoming book “Five Steps to breaking Free from Porn” by Joe Dallas, Harvest House Publishing 2013) The following is a brief excerpt from my new book, to be released this June, which I thought was applicable to today’s subject of doctrine and purity. I hope you enjoy it. To pre-order the book itself, please click here. It always helps to look at the big picture, part of which is Continue Reading

Without Provocation?

friends

Every Thursday I’ll post an article having to do with either relational or emotional matters. Hope it helps. — Without Provocation? “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works.” - Hebrews 10:24 An unprovoked life is incomplete. Convenient, probably, and certainly free of unwanted feedback, but incomplete. Someone should know you, and someone should have access to your heart and mind to the extent that she or he can speak to your blind spots. That’s a critical part of discipleship, often overlooked Continue Reading

Anticipation

Jesus Hands

Every Wednesday we’ll post something to do with doctrine and recovery. Hope it helps. — Anticipation Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.  (I John 3: 2-3) Love it, or sick of it already, I know you’ve heard this sung repeatedly by now: “Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow Will find it hard to sleep Continue Reading

When Hurting is Helpful

prayer

Every Monday we’ll post something to do with maintaining sexual purity. Hope it helps. — When Hurting is Helpful “ --- neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the Lord my God of that which doth cost me nothing.” - II Samuel 24:24 I see nothing in scripture or common sense leading me to believe life shouldn’t be savored. Paul told Timothy that God has given us all things richly to enjoy (I Timothy 6:17) and I say bring it on. There are walks to take, movies to see, waves to ride, footballs to toss, and an endless variety of Continue Reading

About Jason Collins, Homosexuality and Christianity

Jason collins

Every Monday we’ll post something to do with maintaining sexual purity. Hope it helps. — About Jason Collins, Homosexuality and Christianity Two weeks ago I posted about a then-unknown pro athlete who was shortly going to “come out” and declare his homosexuality. Yesterday NBA pro Jason Collins ended the suspense by announcing not only that he was the one, but that he’s also, in his own words, someone who “takes the teachings of Jesus seriously.” So this is how I’d respond to him if given the Continue Reading

Facing The Fire

faith

Every Wednesday we’ll post something to do with doctrine and recovery.  — Facing the Fire “Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire ---” I Corinthians 3:11-13 Any Christian feeling a call to service should get a good grasp on the parable of stewardship in Matthew 25:14-30. It describes a master commissioning his servants with differing amounts of money, then taking a Continue Reading

Let’s Unite in Prayer for Boston

prayer

I’ll be taping a series of interviews at Daystar Television in Texas on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. In lieu of the normal Marriage and Doctrine postings I do on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, let’s instead continue in prayer over Monday’s horrific attack on Boston. Please join me in bringing these requests before the throne: May God touch and grant supernatural strength and comfort to the families who lost loved ones. May God heal the injured, and ease their pain. May God immediately intervene and prevent any further attacks Continue Reading

Blew It Again

frustrated

Every Monday we’ll post something to do with maintaining sexual purity. Hope it helps. — Blew It Again Day has begun and I’m already sinning Help me to change this heart that I have Lord, help me taste of the grace that You’re giving. I want to be a spiritual man. - from “Let the Old Man Die” lyrics by Chuck Butler When God puts His finger on a part of your life needing change, a new standard is birthed. Something you may have found acceptable is unacceptable now, making abstinence from that “something” a Continue Reading

Tears of Remembrance On Good Friday

crown of thorns 2

Every Friday we’ll take a break from topical posts and will post some random personal thoughts. — Tears of Remembrance on Good Friday I cried when I saw Schindler’s List, copiously and without embarrassment. The film taught me nothing new about the holocaust, so it didn’t educate me. But it reminded me, via graphic story-telling, of something unfathomable, something that should regularly be remembered and grieved. So weeping was called for. But afterwards I had to ask myself So what? Would crying erase the suffering, much less Continue Reading

Some Thoughts About the Marriage Debate

rebuilding-her-shattered-trust-marriage-matters

This week we will hear arguments presented to the US Supreme Court which will, most likely, settle the legality of same-sex marriage once and for all. So far the justices are predictably divided – 3 for the traditional view; 3 for revision; Justice Kennedy  providing the swing vote.  Two cases are under consideration here: The Defense of Marriage Act and California’s Proposition 8, voted into place by California voters in 2008 as a defense of traditional marriage. Whatever the outcome, there’ll be anguish and elation, simultaneously, Continue Reading
