A Cuppa Joe – Random Ramblings from a Fellow Struggler
I’d sure appreciate your prayers this weekend, as I will be speaking in Cleveland to a variety of groups.
Friday the 4th I’ll be addressing a local high school mid-day, giving my testimony and discussing the long term effects of porn on marriage and relationships in general. Truly looking forward to being with the students to talk this through, as candidly and boldly as possible. Early Friday evening I’ll lead a workshop for pastors and ministry leaders on the many challenges they face relative to sexual sin. God love ‘em, the pastors are the ones who so often hear, “I just found out my husband’s having an affair,” “My daughter just came out of the closet as a lesbian,” “I’m hooked on porn,” etc. It will be an honor working with these leaders and strategizing ways to address the issues they’re confronted with.
Then later that night I’ll have the joy of speaking to a meeting of Amish Elders and leaders regarding the universal nature of lust and the many ways it plays out, with or without modern gadgets, and how we can effectively deal with it. This will be special and new to me, for fairly obvious reasons, and I treasure the opportunity since I have a deep respect for these folks. And I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes.
Saturday I’ll be teaching The Game Plan seminar on purity at the local Mennonite Church, where I’ll also address the Sunday morning congregation the next day. I’m more thankful for these opportunities than I can express, but I’m also keenly aware of my own limitations. If God doesn’t arrange, bless and anoint, then it will surely be a Lost Weekend. Prayers, please?
